Set the T.V. on Fire - Danny Bedrosian & Secret Army
It’s that time again… Time for SONGS YOU WON’T HAVE HEARD! This week forgotify.com deliver me Set the T.V. on Fire by Danny Bedrosian & Secret Army!
Here’s my take…
THE SONG:
Funky. Funky. Funk.
Set the T.V. on Fire is a bona-fide groove, oozing with cool, and questionable assertions – I have a strong feeling that it would take less than 8 million days, years, or forevers to set fire to a television alight, but who am I to say.
In unrelated news, anyone know where to get hold of a cheap TV and some matches?
Full of intoxicating basslines and hazy vocals, as well as damn-near-perfect percussion, Set the TV on Fire is an instant classic (okay it’s been out for 9 years but I’d never heard it before), and it’s just so COOL.
The lyrics are gloriously confusing, and display a clear appetite for destruction, whether it be setting the T.V. on fire, or stuffing an entire entertainment system down the kitchen sink.
Why do they want to do this? I haven’t got a clue. Does it matter? Not a jot.
Frankly, I think it is an insult that this song hasn’t had more love, and I can say without a doubt that it’s the best song I’ve listened to for this blog.
Tune.
THE ARTIST:

Danny Bedrosian & Secret Army seems to be made of a lot of (very talented) musicians, with all of them having played for other big time artists, including band leader Danny Bedrosian and a number of others playing for George Clinton, a singer who has sung for D’Angelo, as well as a NYC Professor on guitar. Of course.
This all adds up to the fact that they make some absolutely phenomenal funk music, fusing in aspects of soul, jazz, rock, blues and hip-hop to create an absolutely delicious sound.
Every single song they’ve put out is a groovy masterpiece, and to be honest I just want to know if they’re touring. If you want to hear for yourself then obviously you can check out Spotify, but they also have a number of free songs available on Facebook, which I would recommend downloading.
Honestly, these guys rock.
RATING:
10/10
My lord, is this song good. As I write, I am sitting in public, and have got more than one confused look due to the amount of grooving I am doing in this chair. But it’s irresistible, Set the T.V. on Fire is just too much of a vibe.
